Utrecht Centre for Medieval Studies Annual Colloquium (2019)

On Thursday, June 13, 2019, the Utrecht Centre for Medieval Studies held its 6th Annual Colloquium. The Colloquium, which took place at Drift from 13:00 until 18:00 presented a varied and exciting programme of talks by students, researchers, and alumni, with poster presentations by current MA students, and a ‘book market’ showcasing recent publications by the Centre members. The event featured the yearly UCMS lecture. This year, the UCMS lecture was delivered by Prof. dr. Brigitte Meijns of KU Leuven, with the title ‘A Wolf, a Thief, and a PseudoAbbot: The disruption of Community Life n the Abbey of Saint-Hubert against the Backdrop of Papal Reform and the Investiture Struggle in the Diocese of Liège (end 11thC)’. This fascinating lecture provided a wonderful insight into the details of the 11th-century events.
